Message from the Head

My name is Anita Bancerz and I am the Head of School at Kensington Queensmill. Our school caters for children and young people with autism and other specific learning difficulties.

I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Head of School of such a fantastic school as Kensington Queensmill. I have been part of the Queensmill community for eleven years and I am proud to share its passion for putting the young person and their family at the heart of everything we do.

I am delighted you have chosen to browse through our web pages and I hope you will enjoy an insight into life at our exceptional school.

We are extremely fortunate to be based in purpose-built facilities designed to deliver a spacious, low-arousal learning environment with excellent autism-specific facilities and resources, allowing us to manage our young people’s needs effectively. Our curriculum is highly differentiated and focuses on delivering a wide range of experiences, with an emphasis on improving the mental health and wellbeing of our young people.

We have an enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly trained professional team committed to providing the highest standard of holistic education for all our young people. We have created a supportive, friendly, and nurturing environment that enables all young people to feel safe and well looked after. All staff understand the importance of safeguarding.

We pride ourselves on the excellent practice and approaches we use to help our young people overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential. Our practice is research based and involves the use of autism-specific strategies such as TEACCH, SCERTS, PECS and Sensory Integration, to name a few. We work closely with Queensmill School and benefit from access to their resources, experience, and research. We are committed to continuously developing our practice and seeking ways to improve it through research and engagement with programmes exploring a wide range of topics.

To help our young people thrive, we work closely with their families and a range of professionals, such as SaLT and OTs as well as social and key workers. This joint approach allows us to secure the best outcomes for all young people attending our school.

Our highly experienced and skilled team shares their knowledge with our parents and carers through training sessions and coffee mornings, ensuring they are well equipped in helping their child succeed.

Kensington Queensmill also prides itself on its links with the wider community through visits and links with other schools.

I hope you will find the site informative and will be inspired to want to know more about us.

If you wish to make an appointment, contact the school office.

    Many thanks,

    Anita Bancerz
